Dancing in the Street was first recorded in 1964 by Martha and the Vandellas. It was written by Marvin Gaye, William Stevenson and Ivy Jo Hunter.

• The video clip was filmed at Warner Brothers Movie World on the Gold Coast. It was choreographed by William Forsythe and directed by Mark Hartley.

• Nikki’s version of Dancing in the Street was mentioned in a ‘Musical Makeovers’ story on the ABC’s Mondo Thingo.

• Featured on the albums Hand In Hand, So Fresh: The Hits of Summer 2004 Plus the Best of 2003, and Hits For Kids – Volume 8

• The video features dancer Jack Chambers. Part of the video and behind-the-scenes footage was played during Jack’s interview on Rove after he won of the first season of So You Think You Can Dance, in 2008. (Thanks to cameoco).

Why did you choose Dancing in the Street as your first single from the new album?
It was a really great song and it stuck in everybody’s head. We wanted to do a cover to release the album, just so parents can enjoy it as well. My mum loves it!
